So THANK YOU for being part of our success!

Hack For Healthcare’s Top Three WinningProjects

Datasets

We are proud to have helped Kal Academy hosting their first hackathon at Startup Hall in Seattle. Healthcare is a topic that our team is very passionate about, and we feel very fortunate that over 100 participants chose to spend their Saturday browsing through our healthcare datasets to tackle 12 problems within the healthcare sector. Everyone showed creativity, passion, and collaborative spirit, but only three teams were awarded.

  • Honorable Mention: RxReport (Lex Myers, Sally Mitrofanova, Goutham Reddy, Daniel Muldrew, Sawako Ishida, James Lee, Jenny Pollack, and Padmaja Jagan Mohan) tracks prescription drug use, reminds users if they miss a dose, and enables reporting of side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Third PlaceHapi (Brendan Fortuner). Brendan draws from his own experience with epileptic seizures to design Hapi, a Facebook chatbot that helps track seizures. This friendly little chatbot is awaiting Facebook review!
  • Second Place: Health Insider (Daniel Ehrman, Jennifer Wu, Heather Rodin, Kristin Helps, Amran Ahmed, Oana Patrascu, Kristen Thayer, Julian Loaiza, Melissa DeCapua) aggregates healthcare data for patients to make informed decisions based on costs, outcome, and average ratings
  • First Place: Poddle Bop (Jackie Dilorenzo, Carrie Hickman, Nabanita De, Srida Mova, Jake Merz, Jade Watkins, Harit Kalathia) connects mental health patients and providers to make mental health diagnosis more data-driven.

We hope you enjoyed the John Snow Labs’ datasets and please do feel free to let us know if you need to continue your free access to your chosen datasets to complete your project. This will also set up your project well if you ever move to commercialize your hackathon project (and therefore it will need the updates, redistribution license & support).

Please tell us more about what you’re building and what datasets you need, so that we can make this happen for you.

We wish you a great day and thank you for your helping us making the world a better place through the power of data.
