Talks will include a joint case study with Roche on applying natural language processing in healthcare, and a half-day hands-on tutorial about its open-source NLP library for Apache Spark

We are very excited to announce that John Snow Labs will launch its first state-of-the-art NLP technical talk series starting with a customer case study, a tutorial, and a booth at the upcoming Strata Data Conference in San Francisco between March 25th-28th.

Strata Data is the largest data conference series in the world, where thousands of top data scientists, analysts, engineers, and executives converge to learn how to merge cutting-edge science and new business fundamentals.

John Snow Labs’ NLP Library for Apache Spark will be the subject of a 3.5-hour-long hands-on tutorial. It will show data scientists how to use the popular library to achieve state of the art speed, accuracy, and scalability for a variety of common natural language process tasks in Python, Java or Scala. The tutorial assumes no prior knowledge of Spark NLP and covers NLP pipelines ranging from basic ones (tokenization, part of speech, dependency parsing, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis) to more advanced one like automated spell checking, OCR, and use of “deep” embeddings.

What: Natural Language Understanding at Scale with Spark NLP

    When: 9:00am–12:30pm Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Where: Moscone West, 800 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, Hall 2009

John Snow Labs will also present the NLP case study on applying natural language processing in practice, together with Roche Molecular Systems. This session introduces the challenges involved with high-accuracy fact extraction from free-text pathology and radiology reports. The session will discuss the solution architecture, the importance of training domain-specific custom models to accurate answer specific questions, and how Spark NLP for Healthcare makes this easy to apply on state-of-the-art deep learning models.

What: How Roche Automates Knowledge Extraction from Pathology & Radiology Reports

    When: 4:20pm–5:00pm Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Where: Moscone West, 800 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, Hall 2009

John Snow Labs will also have a presence at booth P16 in the conference’s expo hall – which will feature live demos of its AI Platform, Spark NLP, and Data Market products. Product and engineering leads will be there in person to provide detailed answers and enable deep conversations with customers, prospects, and partners. Meetings can be scheduled in advance here.

What: Meet John Snow Labs in Person at Strata Data San Francisco 2019

    When:10:30am–6:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, March 26-28, 2019
